1 of 5 people in Johannesburg has HIV

Study has revealed that 1 of 5 people in Johannesburg has HIV. South Africans under the age of 50 are HIV-positive, a 5% increase over the last 19 years.

Steve Letsike from the South African National Aids Council says the data revealed by the study is not surprising.

“Our reaction to the study that was released, I mean it is expected, details that are out there because the program under the national strategic plan has actually spoken about the increasing number of people living with HIV.”

“Evidence will suggest how many people we need to put on treatment. It is finding the people who are HIV positive, so it is the missing cases and the people who are supposed to be on treatment contribute to the increase in that manner”, said Letsike.

Letsike says what is a priority now is to ensure that people in the country have access to quality and safe health care.

The research also showed how few Africans have access to antiretrovirals. According to Unicef, 34% of HIV positive people in East and Southern Africa and 60% of people in West and Central Africa are not currently on treatment.

Zodwa Wabantu cancels wedding?

Zodwa Wabantu broke the internet weeks back after proposing to bae, Ntobeko Linda, but she seem to have put the wedding on hold.

Days after proposing she’d started wedding plans until we got updated via a recent post on Instagram which reads:

“I’m Loosing myself. I need my Spark back.I’m not Happy anymore. Free Ntobeko he’s still Growing. No Wedding.”

Speaking to The Juice on Monday, Zodwa said that she has not necessarily called off the wedding and the decision isn’t an agreement with bae.

“I’m just tired from the relationship. I’m hurt so I’m taking time off from him. Not from the relationship or the wedding. So, it’s just a break. I’m just feeling emotionally drained. I think it’s everything. So, I just need time off for myself then I will see.”

It’s up to me. I’ll see how I feel. Or if I’m okay. Or how I can fix our relationship,” she told us when we questioned if the wedding will definitely still happen in future.

Why AKA cancelled Washington DC gig

AKA has been in New York for days with his Mom, Lynn Forbes living their best live and bonding but the star broke hearts of many fans after canceling a gig in Washington DC in the US.

Over the weekend the rapper tweeted about the “no appearance” and fans were quick to slam him but his spokesperson, Krystal Thorpe told Tshisa LIVE that the star had been caught up with commitments in New York. Adding that: “He was never billed to perform, but just as an appearance.”

“AKA’s sole purpose for his current trip to the US was for his responsibilities as a Reebok ambassador. Everything else was secondary to that. Unfortunately, work for [the] client was unforeseeably extended and he could not depart New York in time to make his appearance in Washington DC,” explained Thorpe.

“His booking agent is in engagement with the event promoter, as AKA is still in the US, to work out a favourable solution for the event and his fans.” She said.

“Rtd Gen Chiwenga not planning coup” Emmerson Mnangagwa

In an interview with sections of the private media, President Emmerson Mnangagwa dismissed reports there is a rift between him and his deputy, Rtd Gen Dr Constantino Chiwenga.

President Mnangagwa said no one has so far brought to him substantial evidence to back the claims that there is bad blood between them. President ED is quoted by The Zimbabwe Independent saying that he dismissed rumours of a possible coup against him when he was in Russia two weeks ago. He said Chiwenga knows that he (Mnangagwa) is the elder.

Said President Mnangagwa

“People have the freedom of speech, including the freedom of lies. When you ask those people and ask them to bring evidence of those rifts, not a single person comes forward. We grew up together during the war with Chiwenga. He was a very young man then. I know the boys very well and they know I am their elder. We were called by some people who said, I was not going to be allowed back in the country, and I laughed and advised that person to enjoy a peaceful night’s sleep.”

Prophet Shepherd Bushiri charged with fraud

Prophet Shepherd Bushiri

Enlightened Christian Gathering Church leader Shepherd Bushiri and his wife Mary were due to appear in the Pretoria Specialised Commercial Crimes Court on Monday after their arrest on Friday on fraud and money laundering charges.

The media have been barred from entering the building.

Outside court, a sizable group has gathered in support of the “Major One”, as Bushiri calls himself.

Details of the charges are as yet unknown.

Hawks spokesperson Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi said the case concerned allegations of fraud, money laundering and the contravention of the Prevention of Organised Crime Act. “[The offences were] committed from 2015 in relation to exchange control regulations related to foreign currency in an amount of $1,147,200 [R13.96m].”

Thousands of his followers gathered at the Pretoria Events Centre on Sunday. Throughout the service, congregants chanted Bushiri’s name, with some holding placards on which was written “I will die for you Major 1” and “We love you Major 1”.

When the time for contributions came, congregants dug deep into their pockets. Some placed up to R1,600 in cash in envelopes while others swiped R1,000 from bank cards on speed points provided, the Sowetan reported.

A female congregant, who did not want to be named, vowed her support: “The arrest of papa [Bushiri] is just an obstacle that will eventually pass. People are trying everything to bring him down but we’ll stand by him. People are jealous of papa.”

The Sunday World previously reported that the Hawks were probing allegations that as much as R15m a month was leaving South Africa for his home country of Malawi. The money was allegedly transported out of South Africa in Bushiri ’s private jet and other vehicles.

Bushiri’s charismatic Enlightened Christian Gathering church has several branches in the country and in other southern African countries.

Jah Prayzah refuses to feature on Baba Harare video

The apparent harmony between Baba Harare and Jah Prayzah could prove to be a smokescreen following revelations that the Military Touch Movement boss refused to feature on a video of the collaboration he did with his former lead guitarist.

Baba Harare and Jah Prayzah collaborated on the former’s song titled “Guzuzu” and the video of the song was released on Monday.

Jah Prayzah refused to be part of the production arguing that he no longer makes videos for stale songs. Many people were expecting to see Jah Prayzah on the video, but Baba Harare had to forge his former leader’s lines on the original song for the video to go through.

Baba Harare said he approached Jah Prayzah when they were ready to make the video, but he was told that his move was not in line with the latter’s current operation strategy.

He claims Jah Prayzah said he only makes videos for new songs and Baba Harare’s “Guzuzu” is ‘too old’ to deserve his attention.

“When we were about to do the video, I approached Jah Prayzah with a request for him to feature on the video. I was surprised when he told me that he no longer does videos for songs that are already in the public domain,” said Baba Harare.

“He said his current style is to have a song and its accompanying video going on the market at once. He said we were supposed to do the audio and video at the same time. He said it is too late to revisit a stale song to have a ‘resurrection’ video. I was disappointed because I wanted him to be part of the video.

“I had to do his lines on the video. I did not have an option since I wanted to push this song through a video like we did with ‘The Reason Why?’ that has become a hit.”

Baba Harare’s “The Reason Why” that has become a hit across the country was catapulted by the video he released recently.

Although “Guzuzu”, the collaboration with Jah Prayzah, is also getting considerable airplay Baba Harare wanted to solidify its penetration into the market through a video.

He was not expecting a blunt snub from Jah Prayzah.

“I respect him because he taught me a lot. I am what I am today because of him. I had to do the video without him because I respect his decision. I will always look up to him for advice. He remains my elder in the industry,” said Baba Harare.

Jah Prayzah, through his manager Keen Mushapaidze, confirmed they no longer do videos for old song, but claimed they failed to make time for Baba Harare’s production because of a busy schedule.

“When Baba Harare was doing his video, Jah Prayzah had a busy schedule and could not make time for the video. However, if Jah Prayzah told Baba Harare that he could not feature on a video of an old song, he was right because we no longer consider old songs for new videos,” said Mushapaidze.

“The disadvantage of doing a video for an old son is that people would have already made their imaginary scripts from the audio storyline. There is danger of coming up with a video that does not support people’s notions about the song. That is our new position and I believe Jah Prayzah was frank to Baba Harare when he told him so, but I believe my artiste would have broken the rule if he had time for the video. A busy schedule contributed more to Jah Prayzah’s failure to feature on Baba Harare’s video.”

Despite Jah Prayhzah’s absence, Baba Harare’s “Guzuzu” video, which features talented actress Delma Chiwereva has been received well by his  fans
